Ursula Ok. Le Guin Basis has introduced the shortlist for the 2025 Ursula Ok. Le Guin Prize for Fiction, which awards $25,000 every year to the writer of a e-book who finest represents the legendary author’s literary, ethical, and aesthetic beliefs: “realists of a bigger actuality, who can think about actual grounds for hope and see alternate options to how we stay now.”

The eight books on the shortlist have been chosen by the Basis after a public voting course of; the recipient of this 12 months’s prize can be chosen by a panel consisting of authors Matt Bell, Indra Das, Kelly Hyperlink, Sequoia Nagamatsu, and Rebecca Roanhorse.
